Wedding Shoes
Wedding shoes will be mandatory unless the bride
and groom are having their marriage ceremony at the beach.
The bride needs to put a lot more thought and effort into the task
of picking out wedding shoes than the groom, however.
The groom simply needs to choose a special pair of dress shoes
for the wedding. The best option might simply be to rent them with
the tuxedo.
However, he can be a bit pickier and have a special pair of shoes
made in leather or such that go with the outfit he's chosen. He
can then choose to either buy or rent them, and should probably
try wearing them the day before to make sure they're comfortable.
Considering the bride will be wearing the most beautiful dress
of her life, she's going to want to purchase a pair of wedding shoes
that will match the dress' elegance. The reality, though, is that
the shoes won't even show under the wedding
dress, leaving comfort as what should be the most important
determining factor.
The bride will be on her feet all day, posing for pictures, cutting
the wedding cake, dancing, and
of course doing the wedding march.
So, no matter what the wedding shoes look like, the bride, just
like the groom, should wear her shoes before the event to test their
comfort level.
To further ensure comfort, she should get wedding shoes that are
the same size as her normal, everyday shoes. If her foot falls between
two sizes, she should select the larger size. For even more comfort,
a second pair of shoes with low heels should be brought to the wedding
for when it's time to sit down at the reception.
With the reality that most brides will still be fashion-conscious
about their wedding shoes, style, design, and color come into play
during the selection process. A rule of thumb is that the bride's
wedding shoes need to match the dress as much as possible, including
color and material.
Silk and satin are the two most common shoe materials, but of course
it all depends on the dress. Furthermore, the shoe style should
fit in with the type of wedding. For instance, a hot, outdoor wedding
would lend itself to sandals so your feet can breathe. Shoe style
should also correspond with dress style.
For instance, heels would go well with a knee-length dress because
it makes the bride's legs look slimmer and longer. Finally, the
wedding shoe style should match the bride's personal style. For
example, a romantic woman might want to wear a pair of lacy white
"granny boots".
There are a couple safety tips for the bride and her wedding shoes.
First, she can avoid an awkward fall during the wedding by applying
sandpaper to the sole to roughen up the smooth surface. And, second,
she need not select wedding shoes with heels if she doesn't already
have experience wearing them.
