Wedding Programs
Sometimes wedding programs are pulled together at
the last minute. The wedding dress
has been dry cleaned and pressed, the silvery or white shoes have
been buffed and the gloves, garter belt and corset are pre-washed.
The wedding attire has been ready for almost a week, yet your wedding
program isn't finalized.
Who should sit on this table? Who will sing for us? Should I sing
too? How should I arrange the wedding
march for my entourage and family members? How should my reception
flow?
Well lady, you are not alone. This is a common problem for most
brides. Brides along with her bridesmaids are fumbling for that
perfect wedding program even a day before the event. And, this matter
can cause wedding jitters for the bride. To avoid stress, here are
some suggestions in creating that fun wedding program.
Know your theme. The wedding of course has a theme.
Every wedding does. Having a theme will help you create an enjoyable
wedding program in one sitting. But, if you have not set a particular
theme, you may have an aim of what you would like the wedding to
look and feel like to the guests. Maybe you want them to relive
the elegance and sophistication of the 1940's era, or give them
the feel of your countryside upbringing.
With an elegant type of wedding, you can ask the female guests
to sport a WWI era hairstyle and clad themselves in Katharine Hepburn
type of dress. For me, ask them to wear a war uniform, tuxedo or
a Humphrey Bogart look. The wedding program may resemble the look
and feel of that era or some other theme of choice. Just put on
a few personal touches with your own modern outlook and everything
will turn out fine.
List all the names of your the talented relatives (on both sides)
and ask them formally to take part of the wedding program. Do this
ahead of time. Tell them of the theme so they will know what to
sing for singers, what to play for the instrumentalists, or what
to dance for ballroom dance couples. Or, if you have specific favorites
for them to sing, play or dance, tell them so. After they have agreed
upon it, add them to the wedding program.
If only a few accept the invitation to perform, you might need
the services of professionals. Hire instrumentalists or singers
and a host to fill in the gaps in the wedding program.
Surprise your guests and your groom. If you can sing a note, well
maybe it's time for you to show it off. Or, if you can dance the
tango, surprise the guests with an excellent dance with the groom.
There is no such thing as problem-free wedding program. But, creating
a cost effective and doable wedding program is within reach for
most. Always remember, the wedding ceremony and reception
will be the smallest part of your married life.
Don't let the wedding program be the cause of fight between you
and your spouse or other family members of both parties. Also, don't
allow it to empty the bankbook just to please the guests.
The wedding program will be fun for everyone as long as you put
some thought, time and effort into the planning and have a few Plan
B's for the inevitable mishaps that are likely to occur along the
way.
